The owners of this impressive house high on a hill in Berrima wanted to convert a double-sided open fire in a sandstone chimney to a slow combustion fire for greater heat output and efficiency. The double-sided open fire was cut out of the chimney and an Axis i1000 double-sided in-built fire was installed to take its place. A custom trim was measured and made to perfectly fill in the gaps around the fire while allowing for airflow.
This French-made laser cut steel fire now takes pride of place providing up to 300m2 heating capacity and an amazing view of the flames on both the Lounge and Dining sides of the room.
